Keeping it Positive?
Keeping It Positive?
What comes to mind when you hear the word “positive”? Maybe it’s a certain friend, family member or coworker who displays optimism on a daily basis. But have you ever noticed that some of the most positive individuals are sometimes tested by periods of unhappiness and even hopelessness? Is it possible that positivity isn’t all it’s cracked up to be?
While the benefits of positivity may seem like a foregone conclusion, blind optimism can actually be detrimental. In fact, overly positive, unrealistic expectations cause people to wane in spirit when their expectations are not met. If, over the course of days, months or years, circumstances don’t shift the way we had hoped, positivity can take a nasty turn. Those are the kind of situations when the most positive people can feel the most hopeless.
In this episode of TAKE Life, Faith shares how the story of an American soldier taken prisoner in the Vietnam War challenged her to rethink the very concept of positivity. Find out how to stay grounded and realistic while never losing hope.
